Balearic Shearwater Project

Balearic Shearwaters are a globally threatened species of seabird which are known to be present in the Channel and along the Brittany coast in internationally important numbers.

Balearic Shearwater

MARINElife has been researching Balearic Shearwaters in the Channel since 2005 and is currently collaborating with several partners in the UK and France including the Office National de la Chasse et de la Faune Sauvage (ONCFS) and the University of Plymouth to identify key areas and environmental factors which explain their summer distribution in the Channel.

We hope to take the work on this endangered seabird further with another grant application submitted.
