Exclusive video footage of Dorset's White-beaked Dolphins (22 March 2011)

On March 22, in Dorset's Lyme Bay, skipper John Wallington took some stunning video footage of a small group of White-beaked Dolphins as they investigated his boat. The footage includes spectacular breaching and some lovely views of the dolphins as they swim majestically under the boat in the clear blue waters.

MARINElife CHARM iii Blog

White Beaked DolphinThis particular pod consists of four animals but much larger groups of White-beaked Dolphins have been seen before in Lyme Bay by MARINElife researchers, especially during the summer months. It is hoped that this sighting, along with the animals seen on 5 March, may be the first of many this year, and we can look forward to monitoring these beautiful animals off the jurassic coastline through the summer.

MARINElife will be guiding Naturetrek trips in to Lyme Bay this summer to look for dolphins and seabirds. If you would like to join us for a dolphin-watching experience to remember, please read the full details and booking options on our Wildlife Trips page here.
