Following the launch of STORM, MARINElife's new data management system, we are looking to fill another desk-based volunteer position, that of Data Validator (the other position being for the CalMac Marine Awareness Programme).
MARINElife operates surveys on 17 ferry routes from ports all around the coast of the UK. This generates a lot of very important data. This volunteer role will be responsible for a set group of survey routes, and the main duty will be to run the data entered by our at-sea surveyors, through our own bespoke validation tool, to ensure there are no errors in the data. This is a simple excel programme, provided with full guidance and training.

Our volunteers are fully supported in their role, and are provided with full training and the necessary materials, but they do need to be able to commit to being routinely available for a couple of hours each week, and have access to a PC and the internet.
This position offers an excellent opportunity to gain data handling experience. MARINElife volunteers are a dedicated, fun-loving group of people, and we are looking forward to adding another member to the team.
