MARINElife
attended Whalefest on the weekend of 5th - 6th November 2011 in
Brighton, organised by Planet Whale. The event, the first of its
kind attracted a huge audience including many charities and
conservation organisations, tour operators and the public.
MARINElife was offered the opportunity to participate in the event.
Tom Brereton, MARINElife Research Director, gave a
presentation on the Channel Charm III project on Saturday and
Adrian Shephard, MARINElife Chairman of Trustees, ran a
photo-identification workshop on the Sunday, both of which
were very well attended.
The event also offered the opportunity to have a Stall which
Rick and Sharon Morris together with Tricia and Derek
Dendle operated over the weekend. They had a lot of interest and
enquiries from attendees about the work of MARINElife and also
raised some funds.
Additionally, we ran a supporter and volunteer event on the
Saturday afternoon giving us an opportunity to share some of the
work and achievements with the wider organisation. We were lucky
enough to be joined by some guest speakers including Dr Charles
Anderson, an expert in the marine wildlife of the Maldives, Dr
Martin Kitching from Northern Experience Wildlife Tours who runs
our collaborative North East Cetacean Project plus special videos
from Dr Colin Macleod, MARINElife Senior Research Consultant and
MARINElife's founder, Andy William.

We would like to extend our thanks to the staff and volunteers who presented and helped organise the MARINElife participation, the supporters and volunteers who attended the event and to Planet Whale for staging the event - we all look forward to the next.
